We are looking for a Mortgage Loan Processor to join the First State Bank Family! If you have an eye for detail, experience processing mortgage loans and a positive attitude, then we want to talk with you!

Ideally our Mortgage Loan Processor will be based out of New London, Waupaca or Stevens Point, but could work remotely or in one of our other locations. You will be able and encouraged to support our Mortgage Loan Originators. Mortgage processing experience is preferred, but title or other financial experience is helpful.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Mortgage Lending, Loan Processor performs a full range of administrative duties pertaining to the processing of mortgage loans.

Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Facilitates full range of clerical duties pertaining to the typing, processing, editing, verification, review, and follow up of mortgage loans to ensure all documents are completed timely.
  • Ensures accuracy in preparing loan documents for closing mortgage transactions to reduce rework and rejection of loan from FSB Quality Control or selected Investor.
  • Submits all underwriting documents and files for closing in a timely fashion ensuring all deadlines are met and customers are satisfied with all processes.
  • Ensures documents are sent to Investors in the time period specified by selected Investor for loan to be purchased.
  • Ensures in-house loan files are uploaded accurately in a timely fashion in accordance with closing date, first payment date, and end of month.
  • Ensures any necessary edit review corrections for uploaded in-house loans that are communicated are completed timely.
  • Completes a full range of duties pertaining to the processing of mortgage loan applications while maintaining a team environment and strong working relationships with Mortgage Loan Officers and other staff.
  • Clearly communicates to customers, lenders, and pertinent individuals in the transaction to ensure necessary documentation and other information is received.
  • Manages and coordinates all aspects of the mortgage transaction to ensure loans close by due date.
  • Stays current on mortgage compliance, regulations, and product changes through attendance of trainings, seminars, or workshops increasing accuracy and compliance of all work.
  • Accurately completes HMDA reporting and data fields to ensure proper submission of information to regulatory agency.
  • Proactively promotes bank products and services to assist other departments in reaching referral goals.

Secondary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Completes mortgage lending projects as assigned by the AVP Mortgage Lending.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Majority of interpersonal interaction takes place with individuals internal to the organization with some communication to external customers and/or lenders.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years of bank consumer, mortgage, or commercial loan processing or educational equivalent in credit processing/servicing procedures and policies preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong communication skills as evident by ability to interact face-to-face, over the telephone, via email, and written communications to coworkers and customers.
  • Detail oriented with strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, time management, and problem solving abilities.

Contextual Information:

  • Employee sits for prolonged times of mental and visual concentration in indoor office environment.
  • Employee uses basic office equipment and computer software including but not limited to desktop computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine, scanner, calculator, telephone and voicemail, loan processing software, Microsoft Office products, or scanning software.
